Federal prosecutors claim that Pooh Shiesty abducted Gucci Mane, held him at gunpoint, and had the rap mogul sign a paper freeing him from his recording contract.
Prosecutors said Pooh was one of nine individuals indicted on Thursday, 2 April, 2025 for carrying out a "coordinated armed takeover" of a music studio in Texas. They could be sentenced to life in jail.
Pooh set up a meeting with Gucci in January 2025 to go over the details of his recording contract, according to the complaint. As soon as he entered the studio, more members of his gang barged in, and one of the defendants blocked the door to keep people from leaving. Pooh then demanded that Gucci release him from his contract while brandishing a pistol.
Cash and jewellery, among other valuables, were taken from the victims, according to federal authorities. According to the lawsuit, one victim was choked until he was nearly unconscious.
Several of the defendants shared images of the purportedly stolen goods, including Rolex watches, on social media a few hours after the operation.
According to a statement from Ryan Raybould, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, "nine defendants travelled to Dallas, Texas, to kidnap and rob victims who thought they were coming into town for a business meeting." "The defendants used violence and intimidation to accomplish their alleged business objectives instead of discussing business in a civil matter."
Electronic monitoring data that places Pooh in the vicinity of the alleged crime in violation of his house detention, cell phone records, license plate reader data, rental car information, surveillance film, and fingerprints retrieved from the studio are all pieces of evidence that implicate the defendants. Lontrell Williams Sr., Pooh's father, is charged with assisting in the operation's planning and execution.
On Wednesday, 1 April, 2025, eight of the nine accused were taken into custody in Memphis and Dallas. Rapper Big30 is one of them.
Federal authorities identified one of the victims as R.D., but they did not name Mane, whose actual name is Radric Davis.
